Serco ASP provide a fully managed recruitment service to Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust (CCS).  The recruitment team works with approved processes using a bespoke e-recruitment system (ERICa) capable of handling the entire recruitment process from advertisement through to the provision of contract.  The system is linked to NHS Jobs.

The Challenge

A Reablement project was set up by CCS in order to support the process of getting older people out of Addenbrookes Hospital and back into the community and home fully enabled to live independently.  The project was a joint initiative between Addenbrookes, Cambridgeshire County Council and CCS NHS Trust.

CCS needed to recruit 50 full-time Band 2/3 Care Assistants and a number of senior posts within a 3 month period.  CCS requested support from Serco ASP Recruitment team to assist with this project.

The Solution

A rolling online advertisement was set up on NHS Jobs to promote the Care Assistant vacancies during this period.

CCS’s standard recruitment process was reviewed and a fast track process was developed and implemented to ensure that the required number of new recruits were on board by the deadline.

A designated Recruitment Specialist was also identified to work on the project.

Delivering the Project

As part of the project, a weekly update session was held with the designated project members to ensure appropriate deadlines were met.

Using a designated Recruitment Specialist meant that the most knowledgeable staff were assigned to the project from implementation through to completion.

The Results

The project was successfully delivered within the tight timeframe with 66 appointments made to Care Assistant posts over the course of the project.
